It is important to remember that school counseling is:
- Short Term
What Does an Individual Counseling Session Look Like?
Individual counseling sessions are usually held on a weekly basis for approximately 20 minutes. The student and counselor may do a variety of activities, including playing games, drawing, watching videos or reading books. The goal is for the student to take what he or she has learned and be able to apply that to real life situations.
How are Students Referred to the School Counselor?
Teachers and administrators refer students to the school counselor as issues develop over the course of the year.
Any parent can refer their child to see the school counselor. Please contact her by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone (812) 486-3224.
Students can request to meet with the school counselor themselves:
Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade need to inform their teacher that they would like to meet with the school counselor. The teachers will relay that request to Mrs. Hannah.
Students in Grades 2-6 who wish to speak with Mrs. Hannah can fill out a request formthat is located in their classroom. This form should be placed in thesecure counseling box located in the Intermediate office where theirrequest will be met with prompt attention.
